The Public Rental Board (PRB) proudly marked a significant milestone in its commitment to enhancing community development with the official opening and handover of the Lagilagi Multipurpose Court on the 23^rd of July 2025. The facility was formally handed over to PRB by the Hon. Jese Saukuru, Minister for Youth and Sports, in a ceremony attended by residents, stakeholders, Ministers and senior government officials.

The new multipurpose court, situated in the heart of the Lagilagi Housing Estate, stands as a beacon of community spirit and progress. Designed to promote healthy lifestyles, social engagement, and youth empowerment, the court provides a modern space for recreational activities such as basketball, volleyball, and community events.

In his keynote address, Hon. Jese Saukuru highlighted the government’s continued commitment to improving the living standards of Fijian communities through collaborative and inclusive development. He commended PRB for its efforts in maintaining safe, vibrant, and functional community spaces, adding that such initiatives contribute meaningfully to youth engagement and social harmony.

PRB General Manager, Mr. Timoci Naleba, expressed gratitude to the Ministry and all development partners for their support in delivering the project. He reaffirmed PRB’s mission to provide quality living environments and emphasized the importance of investing in holistic community infrastructure.

“This court will serve as a safe and inclusive space for families and young people to gather, stay active, and strengthen community bonds. PRB is proud to be entrusted with this facility and looks forward to hosting community programs that will fully utilize its potential,” Mr. Naleba said.

The ceremony concluded with a ribbon-cutting, tour of the facility, and a demonstration match involving local youths — a fitting testament to the court’s role as a new hub for community engagement and physical wellness.

The Lagilagi Multipurpose Court forms part of a broader initiative under PRB’s strategic development plan, aimed at not only providing affordable housing but also ensuring tenant communities thrive in supportive, safe, and enriched environments.
