Asenaca Nawaqalevu is an Urban & Regional Planner by Profession and holds a Bachelor of Planning Degree (B. Plan) from Auckland University in New Zealand and Master of Urban & Regional Planning Degree (MURP) from Sydney University in Australia. She spent many years as City Planning Manager for the Capital City of Suva, setting the direction for development of Fiji\u2019s capital city prior to joining the University of the South Pacific as an academic at the Discipline of Land Management & Development at the University of the South Pacific . Her area of interests and research is on policy and community planning, housing needs and accessibility; and the management of customary land for our indigenous community.<\/p>\n

An accomplished independent consultant with over six years of expertise in geospatial and data management. Lanieta’s professional focus centers on delivering high-quality solutions to organizations and initiatives dedicated to environmental sustainability and climate change adaptation. She is currently pursuing a postgraduate diploma in Islands and Ocean Stewardship, complementing her bachelor’s degree in Geography and Marine Affairs, providing her with a solid foundation in her field.<\/p>\n

Notable career highlights include her impactful work with the South Pacific Community (SPC), where she utilized GIS and open-source geospatial technologies to enhance data collection, analysis, and visualization for projects related to forest degradation, hazard risk analysis, and coastal adaptation. Lanieta also played a pivotal role in shaping the Global Risk Assessment Framework (GRAF) for the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) by analyzing data gaps and offering data harmonization recommendations.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Lanieta actively contributes to the open-source geospatial community, co-founding OpenStreetMap (OSM) Fiji and serving as a board member for the Pacific GIS & Remote Sensing Council.<\/p>\n

Ana Naivou, a retired headteacher with 26 years of educational experience, is a dedicated advocate for education, gender equality, and community development. She currently serves as the Ra Women’s Representative to the NGO FEMLINK Pacific, an advisor to the Ra Women’s Association, and brings her extensive expertise as a social worker to empower her community.<\/p>\n
